HirschGibney has completed hundreds of Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) throughout the United States. Those projects have ranged from single lot assessments to evaluating the historical usage and current conditions of a 180-acre industrial redevelopment project and a 1,000-acre conservation easement. Clients have included, among others, developers, and commercial and residential property owners.

HirschGibney's ESAs are conducted in accordance with ASTM 1527-05 guidance, although modifications can be made to address specific client concerns. A typical HirschGibney ESA includes the following activities:

	Detailed site reconnaissance to identify areas of potential environmental concern.
	An assessment of general soils and geologic, hydologic, and hydrogeologic characteristics of the Site.
	Interviews with parties to obtain information regarding the history of the Site/site vicinity.
	Detailed review of readily available public information such as building department permitting, fire department records, and sanitary sewer permitting, concerning surrounding properties and past site usage.
	Detailed review of historic Sanborn and USGS topographic maps for the Site/site vicinity.
	Detailed review of historical aerial photography and city directories for the site vicinity.
	Detailed review of regulatory agency lists and records pertaining to hazardous materials use, storage, handling, disposal and releases for the Site/site vicinity.
Modifications can include:
	A cursory radon and flood plain evaluation.
	Screen for Endangered/Threatend Species.
	Screen for wetlands.
	Screen for cultural/natural resources.
	Screen for Coastal Zone Management Act.
	Screen for Wild and Scenic Rivers.
